Mad about Maddie!
As I'm working on the breakdowns of the early reader graphic novel project that won first prize for the best "picture book" manuscript at the last Los Angeles SCBWI Writer's Day contest, I'm in search of the look of my characters. Maddie (shown here) will play a BIG role in this graphic novel, so I'm not going to quit sketching until she's the most adorable talkative girl in the world! What do you think? Which one do you like best?!

I vote for the one with the dark wild hair (2nd row, 4th from the left) Of course, that could be because I was a wild-haired kid myself. :)

I really like Sara's choice too. My fav is the 3rd row, 3rd from the left. There's something appealing about those quirky hairstyles.

My illustrator's group has also given me a lot of thumbs up for the brown haired pig-tail versions, so keep those votes coming!

I vote dark wild hair also! An added bonus is that for some black girls, it would be an added chance to see someone who looks at least a little like them in a book, which is all too rare...
I vote for the long pig tails, but that's without knowing much about Maddie's personality or the setting of your graphic novel.
If I knew Maddie's character better, or when/where the story takes place, I could possibly select a different Maddie.
