Varian Fry: American Journalist, Frontline Hero

At the last two SCBWI summer conferences, my friend, writer Carla Killough McClafferty, has shared with me her passion for the subject of her latest manuscript: Varian Fry. Fry, an American journalist in France, answered the call of human nobility during World War II. He formed his own version of an Underground Railroad that helped thousands escape misery or death at Hitler's hands.
